Check with your Faculty IT or Department Administration for more information.Overview: EarthViewer for iPad allows users to systematically explore 4.5 billion years on Earth. There may be additional mapping and GIS software available via Departmental subscriptions. It is based on a global view, with all data projected into a global Cube projection and displayed at varying levels of detail (LODs), organized into tiles.ĪrcMap is where you display and explore GIS datasets for your study area, where you assign symbols, and where you create map layouts for printing or publication. ArcMap is also the application you use to create and edit datasets.ĪrcScene is a 3D viewer that is well suited to generating perspective scenes that allow you to navigate and interact with your 3D feature and raster data. This application is generally designed to be used with very large datasets and allows for seamless visualization of both raster and feature data. Log in with your MQ OneID, and then click on the AppStream - Student Applications button There are geospatial imagery tools available through AppStream, the university's new application streaming service. The ideal companion for a geologist, a geophysicist, an engineer, a geographer, and to any person interested in the Earth Sciences. It includes the estimation of important geophysical quantities, such as Bouguer anomaly, topography, magnetic declination, and so on, and a quick coordinate converter. GeoTools is a set of tools to use in geologic, geophysical, engineering and geographic work. ![]() The app draws on several images from the USGS Landsat image gallery and introduces many new images. Sensors on these satellites can measure light outside of the visible range, so the images show more than what is visible to the naked eye. The NASA Earth As Art app features stunning images of Earth from the Terra, Landsat 5, Landsat 7, EO-1, and Aqua satellites. Data contained in this application were obtained from WOA09 (5° and 1° grid) and ETOPO1. Existing data sets (records and formation lists) can also be imported into the App.Ĭhoose a location in the ocean and this application will show profiles and diagrams of following climatological oceanographic parameters: temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, temperature x salinity (TS diagram), density, Brunt-Väisälä, Phosphate, silicate, nitriate. Field measurements and notes can be exported in csv format for integration into analysis software. The records are then displayed in real-time on an image base (Apple) with strikes and dips displayed in the correct orientation and color-coded to the formation list. The App integrates the iPad's GPS, camera, data management and mapping capabilities to allow geologists to record structural and formation information, automatically log geo-located data, link images to each record and input pre-defined formation names for different mapping areas. GeoFieldBook is designed for use in structural geology field mapping projects as a complement or replacement for the traditional paper field notebook and maps. It was developed by the Earth Science Communications and Visualization Technology Applications and Development Teams at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with support from NASA Headquarters. The resulting 3D model of the Earth may be rotated by a single finger stroke, and may also be zoomed in or out by pinching 2 fingers. Color-coded legends are provided to indicate relative strength or weakness of an environmental condition. Data sets are visually described using "false color" maps. ![]() NASA's Earth Now is an application that visualizes recent global climate data from Earth Science satellites, including surface air temperature, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and water vapor as well as gravity and sea level variations. Layer your view of shifting continents with data on atmospheric composition, temperature, biodiversity, day length, and solar luminosity, to get a more complete view of our dynamic planet. ![]() Follow a favorite landmark, be it Greenland or New York City, as its position shifts through time, or watch a famous fossil like Tiktaalik make an incredible journey from its origin to its current location. Based on the latest scientific research, it lets you scroll through the last 4.5 billion years with your fingertips. And see the world from a new point of view with Voyager guided tours from BBC Earth, NASA, National Geographic and more.ĮarthViewer is like a time machine for exploring Earth’s deep history. Set off on a unique adventure by rolling the dice and hopping between random locations. Zoom to your house or anywhere else, then dive in for a 360° perspective with Street View. Google Earth let's you explore the whole world from above with satellite imagery, 3D buildings in hundreds of cities and 3D terrain of the entire globe.
